The Design
We focused on creating a space that felt like custom furniture rather than a typical fitted kitchen. The off-black Shaker cabinets bring a sophisticated touch without overwhelming the room. To keep things airy, we used a mix of closed and open cabinetry, exposing warm birch ply interiors in some of the open units to add character. Copper tones and a white feature wall balance the dark cabinetry, while natural light keeps the space feeling bright and inviting. Wanting to make their kitchen truly unique, there is the addition of custom copper pipe lighting and shelving made in collaboration with a local craftsman, adding an industrial flair. The range cooker and fridge/freezer are featured elements, seamlessly integrated into the design with open shelving and a concealed extractor. With walnut and quartz countertops, brick tiles for a textured wall, and a playful blackboard wall for everyday notes, we layered rich textures and thoughtful details throughout.
