Contemporary German Kitchen Design with Dark Concrete Doors

Battle, East Sussex

The Brief

Tom and Kirsty wanted a contemporary kitchen with a refined elegance, balancing a dark, sophisticated colour palette with contrasting lighter accents to create a warm, inviting atmosphere in their home in Battle, East Sussex. Key to their vision was a spacious breakfast bar, perfect for morning meals and relaxed moments together, offering a clear view out to the garden. This feature would serve as both a practical dining area and a scenic spot to enjoy the natural light streaming in, bringing the beauty of the outdoors inside.

The Design

This contemporary kitchen perfectly encapsulates Tom and Kirsty’s vision of refined elegance, blending dark, sophisticated cabinetry in a dark concrete finish with contrasting light worktops for a striking yet inviting look. The central feature—a spacious breakfast bar with a sleek waterfall edge—not only serves as a functional dining area but also offers a scenic spot to enjoy the morning light and look out over the garden. Thoughtfully placed pendant lights add a touch of industrial sophistication above the island, creating a balanced, atmospheric space that merges style with everyday practicality. The abundance of natural light streaming through the windows softens the darker tones, bringing warmth and a sense of openness to the heart of Tom and Kirsty’s home.

“We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen, it has truly transformed our home. The breakfast bar has quickly become our favourite spot in the house, where we can enjoy breakfast together and take in the garden view. The team was incredible to work with, listening to every detail of what we wanted and bringing it to life better than we could have imagined. It just feels like us.”
