Light and Bright Shaker Kitchen

Pulborough, West Sussex

The Brief

Andrew wanted social kitchen that felt open, uncluttered, and filled with natural light. The colour palette he envisioned was soft and muted, using neutral tones combined with deeper accents. Andrew preferred high-quality, durable materials, including marble-inspired countertops and backsplashes with a light-toned finish for a refined contrast against the cabinetry. His lighting requirements included ambient recessed ceiling lights to keep the space bright and pendant lights to add a modern focal point over the bar area.

The Design

The cabinetry features a two-tone approach, with soft grey upper cabinets paired with deep blue lower cabinets, adding a sophisticated color contrast that anchors the room. The countertops and backsplash are crafted from a marble-effect quartz, which brings a luxurious yet practical surface to the kitchen, resisting stains and scratches. Storage was a high priority, leading to the inclusion of full-height cabinets and well-organized drawers that maximize usable space while keeping the counters clear. To enhance the room’s ambience, recessed ceiling lights provide even illumination, while a statement pendant light over the bar area adds visual interest and modern flair.

“The team at The Brighton Kitchen Company went above and beyond to create this kitchen with me. They were so accommodating and helpful with any queries I had. My kitchen is somewhere I enjoy spending time now. Thank you.”
